Cranbrook Security & Safety

All Campus Buildings have been closed in compliance with Executive Order 2020-21 issued by Michigan’s Governor on Monday, March 23rd, 2020.

Please note that the Security and Safety of the Cranbrook Community remains the highest priority. Cranbrook Security Officers will remain on campus 24/7 throughout the closure. Please do not hesitate to call security at 248-645-3170 for assistance. All vehicles entering campus will need to continue to do so through the Woodward Entrance. Security will stop all incoming vehicles, including residents, and ask for vehicle occupants name and the area of campus they are heading to. Additionally, we are closing the pedestrian gates at Academy Way, Kingswood, and Valley Way.

Cranbrook Security & Safety is a service-driven department committed to providing security and promoting safety for Cranbrook Educational Community. The department is under the direct supervision of the Director of Security & Safety.

Campus Security is composed of 17 Cranbrook Security Personnel (as well as a contracted security provider who staff the Woodward Booth). Our officers monitor the security dispatch center, patrol the campus on foot and in marked patrol vehicles, while providing security 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In conjunction with Cranbrook Security Mission Statement (see below) these officers observe and detect crimes and violations of campus policies in partnership with local police, fire, and emergency medical services, ensuring a timely response to all campus emergencies. Campus Security monitors all campus security alarms, access control, IP based cameras, mass notification, and fire systems. All Campus Security officers are first aid, CPR, and AED certified.

“The mission of Cranbrook Security and Safety is to promote a safe, secure and welcoming environment for every visitor, student, staff and faculty member 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We fulfill this mission by maintaining a staff of highly trained Security personnel; developing relationships with the community and local first responders; while seeking innovative solutions to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from and mitigate all threats, hazards and emergency situations.”
