Cranbrook Welcomes Lucy Hale as Susan Flint Cooper Director of the Cranbrook Institute of Science
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, June 10, 2025 – The Cranbrook Educational Community is thrilled to announce the appointment of Lucy Hale as its new Susan Flint Cooper Director of the Cranbrook Institute of Science, starting June 16, 2025.
With a career spanning over three decades in the science and cultural institution sectors, Lucy brings a wealth of experience, innovative leadership, and a track record of success in management, community engagement, and fundraising.
Lucy Hale joins Cranbrook from the Michigan Science Center, where she served as the Chief Business Officer. During her tenure, she oversaw all earned revenue strategies, transforming the center into a premier STEM hub. Her leadership was instrumental in increasing the center's earned revenue and achieving a significant year-over-year increase in attendance. She also spearheaded the development of several key exhibits and the grand reopening of the Center’s IMAX theater.
Prior to her role at the Michigan Science Center, Lucy was the President and CEO of the Worcester Natural History Society, d.b.a. EcoTarium, in Worcester, MA. There, she led the institution through significant financial and operational challenges. Her extensive experience also includes her role as Executive Director at the Trinity River Audubon Center in Dallas, TX, where she expanded the center's programs and diversified its revenue streams. At the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, she developed and led educational programs, contributing to the successful opening of the new museum in downtown Dallas.

Lucy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Boston College. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the University of Oklahoma, with an expected graduation date of December 2025.
