Special Events Policies

Reservation Policy

A 50 percent non-refundable reservation deposit and a signed facilities rental contract are required to secure a booking date. Final balance of the rental fee along with specified damage deposit (a separate check which will be kept in escrow) is due ten (10) business days prior to the booking date.

Property Security Policy

Repair and replacement of items broken or damaged by the client and their guests become the responsibility of the client. In the event that the breakage or damage is in excess of the damage deposit, the client will be responsible for additional costs not to exceed fair market value.

The Client is responsible for damage occurring at Cranbrook during the event. Repair or replacement of damaged items will be the responsibility of the Client.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made thirty (30) days prior to the event, but will be considered for rescheduling within the following year. The reservation deposit can be applied toward the rescheduled date.

Access and Usage Restrictions

Cranbrook facilities are not available for political or fund raising functions. Facilities also are not available on the following days: New Year's Day, Memorial Day (observed), Independence Day, Labor Day (observed), Thanksgiving Day, the day following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve day as well as any Saturdays and Sundays immediately preceding or following the aforementioned holidays.

Smoking and open flame of any kind, including fireplaces and candles, is prohibited at all facilities.

Amplified musical instruments are prohibited. Event Planning Services also reserves the right to determine the suitability of entertainers and their performance terms and schedules. Dancing indoors in not permitted on the wooden or carpeted floors.

Animals are prohibited unless caged and for the purpose of decoration or entertainment. Caged lovebirds or magician's doves, for example, are acceptable. Household pets, however, are prohibited on the property.

Decorations must be approved by Event Planning Services. Decorations may not be affixed or attached to the interior or exterior of Cranbrook furnishings or structures without approval. Decorations and floral arrangements are requested to be removed at the conclusion of your event.

Relocation of specified articles of cultural properties, including artwork, furnishings and rugs, is prohibited. Event Planning Services can provide details of these items and current placement.

Disbursement of birdseed, rice or balloons is strictly prohibited.

Red wine and grape juice is strictly prohibited from consumption inside or outside any Cranbrook Historical Property.

Alcohol Policy

Cranbrook Educational Community holds the required liquor licenses and insurance coverage to permit service, not sale, of alcohol at its historical properties. Under this restriction, cash bars and admission charges are prohibited for any event held within a Cranbrook facility or on Cranbrook grounds. All approved caterers carry liability insurance for service of alcohol.

Clients who intend to serve alcohol must also offer food. Alcohol service must be terminated at least 30 minutes prior to the conclusion of the event. Opened beverage containers are the property of the client and should be emptied for recycling or removed by the client at the conclusion of the event. 

Terms and Condition

Rates and policies are subject to change without notice prior to receipt of a signed Facilities Rental Contract.

Cranbrook is not responsible for personal items left at the facility by clients, guests or vendors after the rental period has expired.

Cranbrook reserves the right to terminate the event at any time if a Cranbrook representative determines that the client, their guests or vendors are in violation of the Facilities Usage Restrictions outlined herein.
